SHOPFRONT SERVICES
Advice & Referral:
Any young person aged 12 to 25 or a family member can call or drop in to RYSS to talk to a Youth Worker weekdays 9.00am to 5.00pm. Appointments can also be booked online. Our youth workers and caseworkers are always available for a chat, and can provide advice on any issues being faced by a young person, as well as advocacy and referral to appropriate services. Group Work:
Living Skills Program: Our youth-focused Tenancy & Living Skills program is a youth friendly program assisting young people (15-25 years old) to gain the skills necessary to transition into independent living. At the completion of this program each student receives a Rent It Keep It certificate and the skills and knowledge required to assist with independent living. The course runs two hours a week for eight weeks at Wyoming Youth Centre, and is free of charge.

Arts Programs:
The Youth Arts Warehouse is home to a variety of arts programs including Theatre, Photography, Music, Street Art, Drawing and Painting classes.

While our classes are well priced, some may find it difficult to meet the costs of programs. To apply for a financial hardship subsidy, please contact administration on (02) 4323 2374. By arrangement RYSS may negotiate to run an individual/group program or event with you. Each idea can be negotiated on a fee basis or by a partnership agreement. The Interlynk Lounge:
Is open to all young people aged 12 – 25 from 2:30pm to 5pm Tuesdays – Fridays, providing a space for young people to use RYSS facilities to assist with homework, job searching, rental applications, etc. Young people are also empowered and referred to participate in connected programs while provided with advocacy and support.

ABILITIES - NDIS
RYSS Abilities Program is designed to support 17 to 24 year old young people with a disability. RYSS offers a range of services to Aging Disability Home Care clients in all facets of our casework services under the service types of In-home Accommodation Support and Learning and Life Skills Development and the service models of Drop-In Support, Individual Accommodation Support Packages (IASP) and Leaving Care Mentoring Service. All services are available to be developed with clients and support agencies to support individual goals of the Young Person. Eligibility is assessed on a case by case basis and suitability for independent living skills focused case management. NDIS and leaving care clients are welcome to enquire about our services which include a range of Arts Programs in the community and in the Youth Arts Warehouse such as:

INDIGENOUS JUSTICE PROGRAM
IJP Casework Program:
The Casework Program is offered to Indigenous young men and woman who are on Juvenile Justice Orders or are at risk of obtaining a Juvenile Justice Order and between the age of 14 and 18 at time of referral. Eligible young people will have access to the IJP Caseworker and the IJP Community Linking Caseworker. The Caseworker and Community Linking Caseworker will assist the young person to address target areas as required and to; better their health, cease offending behaviours, engage with culture, further their education, gain employment and any other community engagement requirements as they arise.

IJP Housing Program:
The Housing Program is offered to Indigenous young men exiting the care of Frank Baxter Juvenile Justice Centre at Kariong who wish to reside on the Central Coast and are aged between 16 and 18 at the time of referral. The young men in this program will be required to participate in a Living Skills program as a pre-requisite of gaining a property. Young people participating in the housing component of the IJP program will also have assistance with all aspects of connecting with their community including but not limited to: health, engagement with culture, community and country, education, employment and other areas as required. This assistance will be provided by our Community Linking Caseworker. Housing will be offered for a maximum period of two years.

IJP what for?
In 2009 the rate of Indigenous Juveniles in detention was 23 times the amount of the non-indigenous young people, with 63% of these young Indigenous people reoffending. IJP has been developed to assist Indigenous young people reduce reoffending behaviours, connect with their culture and engage positively in their community. IJP aims to do this by holistically addressing the issues that surround offending behaviours. IJP is a voluntary program that focuses on the goal of the young person who has chosen to participate in the program.

Referral Process:
Referring agencies would be asked to consider the young person’s readiness for independent accommodation and willingness to participate in the program.
Referring services will be required to work with IJP to provide appropriate support for the young person.

Criteria to be eligible for IJP include:

Be Indigenous between the age of 14 and 18 years old.

Be in the care of a Juvenile Justice facility or recently released from a facility or have a current Juvenile Justice Order
-
or be at risk of gaining a Juvenile Justice Order.

EARLY INTERVENTION PROGRAM
The Early Intervention & Placement Prevention Program (EIPP Program) aims to provide support to vulnerable children, young people and families to stop problems escalating and to reduce the likelihood of children and young people entering or remaining in child protection and out-of-home care.
Aim: The primary focus of child, youth and family support services is accessing children, young people and families early and providing appropriate, short term supports to address identified issues and prevent escalation of problems.
Regional Youth Support Services (Gosford): Information, support, assessments, casework & referrals to services. RYSS is your point of access on the Central Coast for high quality services, resources and facilities specifically tailored to people aged 12 – 25 years of age.
Wyoming Youth Centre: Wyoming Youth Centre provides youth programs and information, and acts as a referral service, networking with Central Coast services to provide the community with updated and ongoing projects, information and assistance for young people aged 12 to 18.
Living Skills Program: The living skills development program aims to transition young people to independence through gaining skills and resources to apply for accommodation in the private market or enter a community program.
Casework Program: Placement in the Casework program involves regular support to assist the young person to develop life management skills. This is based on the young person’s needs with a case plan developed in consultation with the young person.

GEN Q
What is GenQ?
GenQ is a Safe Place for young people 14 – 25 years of age who identify as LGBTQIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex & Asexual). GenQ is an engaging, activity based program for LGBTQIA+ young people to socialise, gain information and support, and to have fun! The program runs on the last Tuesday of each month from 4pm to 6pm.
​
GenQ has been supported by Regional Youth Support Services (RYSS) for 17 years and the organisation continues to grow as a provider of vital support services connections for LGBTQIA+ young people, as well as running workshops and programs on issues such as self-esteem, confidence and leadership skills, cyber-safety, identity, strategies around anxiety and stress management, and dealing with homophobia, coming out to friends, family and at school. GenQ has now grown to a network of young people, youth workers, services and health professionals who all work collectively to provide LGBTQIA+ young people on the Central Coast with these support services and activity-based program for LGBTQIA+ young people to socialise, gain information and support, and to have fun!
