RYSS Wyoming is a great place for young people in the Wyoming and Narara area to go in the afternoon. The young people have a safe environment and place to chill out with friends get involved in skill building activities including sports and workshops to express creativity.

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Our FREE after-school programs are open to 12-18  and run Tuesday to Friday. This is what's on offer:

 

Arts and DIY

Come along and have fun getting creative with DIY activities and projects, art & design. Work with a professional graffiti artist that will guide you through specialised techniques while creating your own artworks on canvas to take home. Stencil art, layering, drawing, posterisation, life drawing and more. 

 

The Shed 

“The Shed” is an after-school community veggie garden and woodwork program. It provides an excellent environment for young people to engage in problem-solving and develop skills in hand-eye coordination, spatial awareness, their sense of precision, and understanding how to use potentially dangerous tools safely. They often model what they see others doing and with guidance young people get tremendous pleasure from being able to master new skills and achieve what they could not do previously. 

 

Healthy Eating & Exercise

This program encourages a positive, healthy lifestyle by engaging in fitness and healthy eating. Young people will learn healthy and affordable recipes that they can introduce to their own homes.  

 

Other Programs at RYSS WYOMING

 

Circle of security

This is a 6-week relationship-based parenting program for caregivers that explores topics including:
Exploring your children’s needs, Understanding how to help build a solid emotional foundation with your child, How to create a secure attachment with your child, How to be a “Bigger, Stronger, Wiser and Kind Caregiver.
This is a program open to young parents 16 to 25.
Free child minding and morning tea are provided. 
Bookings are essential.

 

NDIS Cooking Club 

Have fun to learn basic cooking skills and a variety of easy to cook at home recipes while making friends in a safe and friendly environment. Covering topics from food hygiene, knife safety, fresh vs. frozen and many more. Each session includes the creation of something yummy to cook, eat and add to your collection of recipes.
This is a program which is open to young people aged 12-25 who are receiving NDIS funding. 
Bookings essential. 

 

All programs at RYSS Wyoming are supported by Casework services by the Co-ordinator and Youth Workers.

 

The RYSS Wyoming facility includes:

 

  • Disability access

  • Access to Kitchen dishwasher and cooking utensils and

  • Sporting equipment on request

  • Full video surveillance

  • Room divider

  • Table’s chairs to seat 50 people

  • Basketball court

 

RYSS Wyoming provides youth programs, information and acts as a referral service, networking with Central Coast services to provide the community with updated and ongoing projects, information and assistance for young people aged 12 to 18.
