Out and About

Goats Festival

It was a cold raining day at Goats family festival, Sanremo. But our team was out interviewing young people about our project. The RYSS buss was there and we got a few great interviews and photo's to cover the day.

Liam and Leia were our chief reporter's for the day, while Jera and Oliver got familiar with our recording equipment.

Check out our setup at the University of Newcastle's Ourimbah campus for IDAHOT Day on the 17th May!  Leia and Jordan were there manning the stall alongside the Ourimbah Queer Collective!

We handed out information and had some great chats with students and staff about our project.

Idahot Day

The WQRDS team were out and about at the Five Lands Walk on June 24th down at Avoca Beach!

We got some great photos and video from the day...
Plus we interviewed our very own Leia about her performance art piece!

Liam and Oliver reviewed some very cool ephemeral art works and tried their hand a flying kites. Very badly!!

WQRDS in the community

Featuring the arts, entertainment and cultural journalism, creating a place for reviews, previews and featuring local youth culture. A team of Youth Leaders collaborated together to build a strong creative hub featuring story-tellers, creative young people, musicians & performers to build a culturally strong community connected to our local youth identity.
Over the past few months we have been 'Out and About' in the community. Featuring news, reviews and covering events in your area. We have been doing vox pop interviews, photography and mini video's to showcase our local cultural and youth events. Featuring artists, musicians and performers. Check it out on our Facebook page and join an on-line hub of creative young people.

The team worked all night long at The Metronome all ages gig at The youth Arts Warehouse on May 12th. Five young bands played live to a packed warehouse and the WQRDS team got to mingle with the crowd and even have a dance or two.

They got to interview some very cool musicians and cover a great event.

Liam ventured into he's own neighbourhood on July 16th and set up a stall at Umina Markets to talk to the locals about the WQRDS project. "It was a great day and lot's of people were very interested in talking to me" Liam said.

Melanie and Liam sold lots of tickets for our fundraiser event.

Our Film

What an amazing night it was at Erina hub watching Quinn and Brad play to a very excited crowd. It's so great to support live local music and especially when the singer is part of the youth queer community.

The WQRDS team went along to the Rhythm Hut on Sunday 30th July to help out with their fundraiser event for us. We started the night with a drumming circle and tried our hand at rhythm and Djembe drumming. Jera said, "It was so much fun and we met so many wonderful people supporting our cause who were happy to help!" We gave a speech on stage and sold raffle tickets for some great prizes, Melanie put together with brilliant community support.

We've been working alongside Lliam Worthington for the past few months, he's been helping us write and produce a short film that will debut later this year! Lliam is a feature film producer, director and writer who recently won first prize for his feature film, "One Less God" at the L.A. Dances with films festival. We are SUPER excited to be mentored by such a proclaimed industry professional.
